Can new people start after the season begins?

Sure, they can join groups at any point in the season.    However, if someone misses the first week, then they will have lost those points UNLESS you (the admin) want to make an exception.    (more about that in a minute)

When you join a group in jPickem, you start at that point in the season.   If you're in week 2, then your week 1 space will have a hole in it -- with zero points.     IF it was that person's intent to win the overall sesaon, they're now what's called al longshot.      So, you have some options:

1.   If you're building a site for a known number of players but don't yet have those, you could make up dummy players and do Pick Wizard them them each week.   As new people join, you could give them that existing open accounts.   This works fine if you're looking only to keep five or ten slots open.    If you're expecting 200 and only have half that, then this option is way too much work.   (well, at least that's why I wouldn't do it)

2.  Another option is to let people join late, then make them play the season with the handicap of not having any points for whatever weeks they missed.  They will never win the overall, but they still have a shot at glory for most points scored in a week.

3.  Yet another option:  If someone joins late, or more common, someone forgets to make their picks in time for kickoff you have the power to give them picks for the missed week.    Within jPickem there's a feature called ... well, we didn't name it yet... but it generates picks for any player for any pick period.   All you do is select the week, select the player and the system will insert random picks with points.    (Warning:  This feature will generally cause mental pain for others especially if the player you're doing this for is anywhere near the top)
