Steps To Getting Started
You can have your own pickem pool running and ready for visitors in just a few hours...
Joomla! Webmasters
jPickem is a 1.0.15 compatible component that comes with NFL schedule data - in this case, the 2008 season. You install, enable some modules and you're good to go. We've not tested it extensively with different templates so it's possible that area needs some tweaking.
Everyone Else
If you are interested in using jPickem for your organization, installation and configuration is about a one day effort. The biggest part of the learning curve is getting your hands around Joomla! as it's via this product that you will control the scoring and standings.
If you are a webmaster and understand how to operate products like WordPress or Facebook, you'll be fine with this. If you're not of that type, then we highly recommend you recruit someone in your football pool to become the admin.
Here are the steps you would need to take if you're starting from scratch...
1. Purchase a domain name. If you're looking to go cheap, get a .info from GoDaddy.com. Last we checked, that will run you about $2/year.
2. Purchase a hosting account. We recommend you get an account with HostGator as we have worked with them for many years and know that Joomla and jPickem run well there (and their support is pretty darn good too). Get the cheapest account they have, which is $60/year if you purchase 3 years worth.
3. Order the Install Service from us and send us your welcome info from HostGator. We'll take it from there.
