Hard Coding Found in First Release

Hard Coding Found in First Release

Please keep in mind that jPickem just became jPickem a few weeks ago. For the past x years, it's been known only as League.com. Our intent this year is to get feedback from webmasters as our internal "focus" groups, while they've been very helpful, are not nearly as critical as those who are in charge of operating a pool.

Confusion for New Members

Our first release works, but one of the largest points of confusion was the use of hard coded links to pages that within your site, likely will not exist. In particular: When a new person joins, and they've not yet joined a group, they might click Make Picks and either see You're not authorized" or some other random page on your site. The reason: That selection was pointed directly as a page of explanation on League.com that told them specifically what they needed to do. So the workaround initially was to change that hard coded reference to your own version of what's wrong or wait until we fixed it.

Of course this was a programming gaffe but again, we did this on League.com long before we decided to put this into a ZIP package. But of course, there is a happy ending: We fixed this in the current version which was released yesterday Aug 30th.

Getting The Updated Version

If you have paid for a version of jPickem, it will be sent to you without a request. If you are instead part of the feedback group, then you'll need to provide some feedback to obtain the latest version. This feedback can be good or bad, but it needs to be real feedback. e.g., of what doesn't qualify: "Nice product. Please send me the update." Sorry if this seems like we're playing hardball, but the agreement waa that you would provide feedback as we really do need your input.

Thanks to all those who have been active in the lsat few weeks.
