jPickem - The Ultimate Office Football Pool
No Longer Seeking Webmasters
This was our first year releasing Leauge/jPickem as an open source project. We would have done it sooner, but the development cycle for a 20 week season makes for a longer trek to market. While jPickem will be released as a commercial open source product, it's not GPL, meaning should you obtain a copy, you are not permitted to release it to others or use it on more than one domain at a time. With that said, let's get back on-topic...
We were looking for certain types of Joomla webmasters to help us fine-tune the product. In exchange for your help, we'll give you a copy of the component and help you get things rolling for your group. All we ask is that you provide feedback to us during the month of August so we can get everything ready by the start of the season.
If you're interested, REGISTER FIRST then drop us a note to intro yourself along with the domain name where you plan to run your pickem pool.
Season 2008 Underway
While the first game isn't for another month, we've started getting things rolling at League.com in preparation for the first year of the official release. While you may have known the software a League.com as just League, we've birthed a new version called jPickem (aka, jP).
Our ONLY reason for this is to fund development of this product. We've already invested LOTS of effort and we are counting on it being good enough that others will want to see this continue. We think what we have is good, but now it's time to get the Joomla community to confirm that ... and make it better.
If this is your first time here, its better you start by reading the intro over at League.com. You can create an account and join groups there to get a first-hand feel of what jPickem does. We intentionally will not be running an instance of jP here. This site is only to explain what it is, how it works and why you might want to run your own version of it.
We will be posting updates here on development news as it happens.
