jPickem - The Ultimate Office Football Pool
Season Has Started!
Yes, the season is underway. However, if you're here looking for the first time, head over to League.com and give it a try. You can click all the FAQs here but the best possible way to understand what we have is to try it. League.com is free. We've been running it that way for three years now building a following and fine-tuning the application. If you are a jPickem webmaster, we are continuing to post responses to your requests but they're not visible from the home page. After you login, and assuming you're in the webmmaster group, you will see a User Menu with Admin Tips. Read those! If you have questions, please email them to us but check the Admin Tips for the reply.
New Build Released
We've responded to (some of) your requests and have a new version that will be released today:1. If a new person is not yet in a group, they will get a default error message that you define in the language file. (We used to point to an internal error page that if it didn't exist would either give you a "not authorized" message or dump you into some other not-related page.
2. jPickem no longer requires you to use a jos_ prefix in your database
3. The Schedule module has been fixed. (Used to show the same team over and over if you were in the first period of a new season)
4. jPickem might now be Joomla 1.5 Legacy-Mode compatible. We're testing this today/tomorrow and will update here soon.
Bugs, Just a Few
We do hereby officially admit there is a bug in the Schedule module. If you remove all the preseason pick periods and games, then publish just Week 1 of the regular season, the Schedule module will show the same one game (the last one) over and over again. I'm sure this is something tiny and we'll have it fixed soon. (before the start of the regular season of course) If you want to see what it looks like, you can view it on our soon-to-be-finished demo/test site. Also, if you're a webmaster you should log into this site then click the items in your user menu. When you ask a question or report a bug we respond to them there so everyone has access to the same info. Yes yes, we should have a forum for this... we will get around to that when the time is right. It's not right yet.
Preseason Is OVER!
We've released jPickem to a hand-picked group of Joomla webmasters. We're calling them the beta/feedback group only because this is the first time we've expected others to operate this from an admin perspective. So far so good considering our how-to documentation is being created as people ask questions. We went a similar route when we released Taskhopper
If you're a webmaster and don't want to mess with having to give us feedback, that's fine too. You can purchase a copy and we'll give you first-class customer service getting things running. Of course, if you do want to give feedback, that's great -- just not a requirement.
Preseaon at League.com has ended so we'll be making changes today to prep that for the regular season.
What is JPickem? What are the benefits?
